Sustainability
Poetry by Locals aims to be a fully sustainable swimwear brand, benefiting the environment for today and tomorrow.
We only use fabrics that do not harm the planet, and work only with factories and production companies that are making changes to their work environment to help protect our planet’s future. The London-based manufacturers we work with insist on being ethical and sustainable, ensuring they keep fabric waste to a minimum and pay their team a competitive wage for their hard work.
We believe it is important to manufacture within the UK, our home, to reduce the cost of transportation while maintaining the highest quality of our garments. This means that from design to distribution, our bikinis are manufactured with as minimal impact on the planet as possible.
FABRIC
Plastic waste is a design failure. Once produced, it never disappears. An estimated 8 million tonnes of plastic now enters our oceans every year, and these plastic fragments end up in the marine food chain, posing an enormous threat both to sea life and to human health.
ECONYL® is a regenerated nylon that turns waste problems into fashion solutions. The fabric is versatile, hyper-resistant, thin, elegant, soft and breathable: a unique mix of muscular compression and comfort for the wearer. Thanks to its innovative composition, it is also twice as resistant to chlorine, suntan creams and oils than competitor fabrics.
Due to its combination of cutting-edge technology, clear and certifiable data and the significant investment it has made into the research of raw materials and improved recycling possibilities, ECONYL® manufacturer Carvico is a world-leader in sustainability and environmental protection.
PACKAGING
All packaging is 100% recyclable and has been selected to be a minimal as possible.
